Meanwhile, Emacs 30.1 is beginning to land in Fedora - first in the
unstable branch (rawhide), now in the branch leading to the upcoming
release (F42), and soonish in released Fedora versions die to the CVE
fixes in that Emacs version (and an update policy exception in
Fedora).

That makes me wonder whether there is a rough timeline for notmuch's
release. I don't want to be pushy, I'm just asking whether it makes
sense to backport the E30 fix in notmuch's test suite or notmuch
release is around the corner anyways, A few more days of notmuch not
building as is in Fedora won't matter, but I'd rather avoid weeks.
