In that case I prefer to distribute them in doc/, either embedded in
.rst files (perhaps as an appendix) or in some new examples/
directory. The former sounds a bit ugly but it would have the advantage
of reaching users without requiring any downstream packaging changes
(e.g. would show up in the online documentation).
